Fruit and veg wholesaler flourishes, worries about tiny decrease in profit margins
Chilled food supplier NCB Foodservice reports a 23% rise in pre-tax profits on increased turnover. Latest figures show profit to end of March 2015 topped £600,000 on turnover above £20m. The company’s steady rise since 2011 continues.
The only fly in the veg patch for the Hamilton-based wholesaler is that gross profit margins are slightly down, provided you look beyond the decimal point. The directors note a fall from 6.3% to 6.2%, which they blame on trading conditions in the wider UK economy. Perhaps wholesalers, like growers, are only happy when they find something to moan about.
NCB employs 13 staff, as it did the previous year.
