Over a hundred thousand spent on  election postage, nearly a quarter of total for three months

A flurry of voting cost Leicester City Council a lot in stamps. In three months from April to June it spent £105,646 on postage related to elections.

It was a busy month, with the general election, council elections and election for the city mayor.

The election-related spending is around 23% of the overall spending on postage – £0.46m in the three months. In June alone the council spent £115,334 on postage related to income and debt collection.
